“As a musician living in New York, Ricky loves to make people dance. When he isn’t performing at jazz festivals or on tour, he can be heard playing in New York City’s jazz clubs and music venues every night of the week.

Growing up outside Washington, DC, he was lucky enough to be exposed to a variety of interesting artistic and historic repertoire bands. This inspired him to pursue a B.A. degree in jazz at the University of Maryland; while there, he began exploring the clarinet, in addition to fine tuning his primary instrument, the saxophone. He was fortunate enough to get to perform at The Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Strathmore Performing Arts Center, and many other prestigious and historic venues. This helped to fuel his passion for artistic and dance music.

Since moving to New York in 2012, Ricky has become extremely busy as a sideman and makes his living solely off performing. He regularly plays with and has recorded with some of the most renowned jazz artists in the city, including Grammy award winning Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band, Glenn Crytzer Orchestra, Dandy Wellington and his Band, Mike Davis and the New Wonders, Legendary ragtime pianist Terry Waldo, and is in demand as a sideman in jazz clubs and historic dance clubs. Ricky books his own band, The Early Bird Jazz Band, for concerts and private events around the region. His debut album is available everywhere on 6/7/19.

Ricky holds a Master’s degree from New York University in jazz performance.”
