Bassist, composer, and GRAMMY-winning sideman Clark Sommers was, like so many guitarists and bassists, deeply influenced by the late great Jimi Hendrix. In particular, Hendrix's "Purple Haze" left an indelible impression on Sommers' musical sensibilities. Now, Sommers takes that influence and pays homage to it with "James Marshall," a track deriving its title from Hendrix's real name that imagines how Hendrix's musical ethos might have fit within the Miles Davis bands of the 1970s.
