Johnny Steele | Drum Set
Johnny Steele is a drummer, composer, producer, and arranger based out of New York City. Although he’s only twenty one years of age, he has been fortunate enough to share the stage and the studio with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Matthew Whitaker, Immanuel Wilkins, Jon Faddis, Giveton Gelin, Russell Hall, and many others. Having been raised in a bicoastal environment (born in Maryland and raised in San Diego), Steele was exposed to a vast array of music and musicians that eventually shaped him to get to the point where he is today. Drawing on the inspiration of both west coast and east coast jazz, funk, fusion, afro cuban, and rock music, Steele has developed versatility which allows him to adapt to any musical situation. In addition to stylistic influences, Steele has also been fortunate to be taught/mentored by Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Washington, Billy Drummond, Jeff Hamilton, and Harvey Mason Sr. He is a member of the Juilliard Class of 2021.
